Eveleigh Market originated to provide a bustling neighbourhood market where you can purchase high-quality authentic goods direct from the people who grow, raise and make it plus the designers, artists and craftsman who create it.
Eveleigh Market first commenced trading the Eveleigh Farmers' Market on Saturday 28 February 2009 with great support from the local community and foodie lovers across Sydney. It has grown into an important weekly ritual where customers buy their weekly seasonal and gourmet produce direct from the Producer at the 'People's Supermarket'.
In March 2009, the Eveleigh Artisans’ Market commenced to provide a space for independent designers and artisans to showcase their handmade and unique designs on the first Sunday of the month. The unique heritage location lends the perfect back drop for stallholders to showcase their creative talents from a vast range of disciplines.
The permanent Eveleigh Market site is housed in the custom-renovated blacksmith's workshop at the heritage listed Eveleigh Railyards, a focal inner-city destination that also encompasses CarriageWorks, creating a core community facility of the Redfern-Waterloo urban renewal project.
The Eveleigh Market, comprising both the Eveleigh Farmers' Market and the Eveleigh Artisans' Market, are owned and operated by Australian Technology Park Sydney Limited (ATPSL). ATPSL is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Sydney Metropolitan Development Authority (SMDA) established under the Corporation Act, 2001.
ATPSL works closely with the SMDA to develop the engagement of Eveleigh Market with the local community through managing and operating the Eveleigh Market and ensuring it becomes an important market place for the community of Sydney and it's stallholders.
ATPSL oversees the Australian Technology Park, which is a 14 hectare site that integrates heritage, architecture, premium commercial space and state-of-the-art conferencing facilities.
